5. Organize a Culminating Event

The culminating event for your creative aging series is an essential program, enabling workshop participants to share their achievements with family and neighbors and helping the library communicate its value to the local community.

It will be important to work with the teaching artist and library staff to determine the scope, type and schedule for the culminating event. The event should be widely publicized, especially to private and public funders, to community arts groups and to aging services organizations.   The program should also be publicized within the library and through its regular communications organs.

Tip:

If your library can afford to document the culminating event on videotape it will benefit future efforts to carry out creative aging programs. Visual documentation can be used in print and online materials for communications and fundraising purposes.
